Yeah man Hal Daddy’s we used to play there a lot with my band For The Pain. I remember one night we were playing and a guy tried to jump off or the lower set of stairs by the stage into the pit. He ended up getting his feet clipped out from under him landed on the back of his head and was out cold. Couple minutes later I see the same guy standing along the railing drinking a PBR licking his wounds. Classic.
My old noise band 8-Bit played our only two shows at Hal’s, both were with the band Uncle Joe’s Funeral. the night before the first show a storm had caused a bunch of grave flowers to blow across the street under one of our member’s cars, so we handed them out to people during the intro. not sure if they knew. the second show I got dripped on from the infamous ceiling, and we all know what that means. The drummer from All Out War once got the same treatment…..from a burst pipe….gross
The last show that I remember happening at Hal’s was Bring It On/Fuck You All/Severed Head/Erase The Past. a ridiculous amount of fireworks were lit off during Erase The Past’s set, causing all kinds of mayhem. I’m pretty sure the cops responding caused the venue to get shut down for good, but I’m not 100% positive. I heard it was “not zoned for music” and that’s why. I loved/hated this place with a passion
